The
Permit Process
Sycamore Township is a healthy and thriving community
thanks to the hard work of its residents and business
owners. This information will help you with your
step-by-step process to obtain a zoning certificate
through the Planning/Zoning Department. “Except
as expressly provided otherwise in the Township
Zoning Resolution, no land shall be occupied or
used and no building, structure or sign shall be
located, constructed, reconstructed, enlarged or
structurally altered, nor work commenced upon the
same, nor occupied or used in whole or part for
any purpose whatsoever until the Zoning Administrator
has issued a zoning certificate." Zoning
permits are required for items such as fences, pools,
sheds, barns, additions, new construction, commercial
interior alterations and signs - to name a few.
You are required to obtain a zoning permit
for your own protection. The issuance of a zoning
permit insures that you are compliant with the Township
Zoning Resolution, and in addition, did you know
many mortgage companies would not support a mortgage
on a property with a zoning violation on something
that did not have a permit issued?
How do I obtain
a permit?
1. Complete the appropriate application(below)
2.
Submit (3) copies of the site plan
(3) copies
of elevations
(3) copies
of demo and floor plans (for commercial interior
work only)
for
review to the Sycamore Township Zoning Department,
8540 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236. For assistance

What
do I do once I receive my permit?
Once your renderings have been approved and have
received our zoning certificate seal, the applicant
is responsible for obtaining a building permit from
the Hamilton County Building Department, our local
building authority. A building permit is necessary
for everything other than fences and sheds less
than 200 square feet. Please contact them for
more information at (513)946-4550. The building
department will require the original zoning certificate
issued by the Township as well as the stamped drawing
that will be returned to you.
