Generally, the Board of Trustees meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month. Meetings are held in the Administration Building located at 8540 Kenwood Road at 7:00 PM. Dates and times for the board meetings are always posted on the home page of the website. The public is welcome. For a list of meeting minutes and agendas please CLICK HERE.
PUBLIC COMMENTS DURING MEETINGS
We welcome public comments and questions from the public. Public participants must be residents of the Township, have a legitimate interest in the action of the board, and sign in to speak. This is the time when members of the public may direct concerns, suggestions, questions or comments to the board under the section of the agenda identified as " Comments from Residents" .
In general, the board oversees Township issues and policies. If you have individual concerns about a specific situation, it's best to first talk with the Department Head or Township Administrator. Our goal is to resolve issues as quickly as possible.
The board agenda typically consists of reports from all Department Heads, Fiscal Officer, and Law Director for which board action may or may not be necessary.
All board meetings are open to the public. During those meetings the Board may call a closed-door session, called an Executive Session. Ohio law allows Executive Sessions for discussion only, and only to discuss personnel, property purchase, pending legal action, employee negotiations, or security. The Board may not take any votes or other action during an Executive Session.
YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS
The Trustees are the three elected officials who are responsible for administering the local government affairs of the Township. Your current elected officials include:
Mr. Denny Connor - Trustee
To contact Denny Connor: email@example.com
Denny was appointed to the Board of Trustees on April 7, 2011, and elected to a four year term on November 8, 2011. He previously served on the Township Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and as a member of the Township Land Use Advisory Board. He and his wife Marguerite have been Township residents since 1983, living in the Kenwood Meadows subdivision. They have three adult children and two grandsons.
Denny is a graduate of Moeller High School and the University of Cincinnati, with a degree in broadcasting. He is President and Owner of Connor Communications, a video production and event management company based in Sycamore Township. Denny is also a longtime member of St. Vincent Ferrer Parish, where he is a past president of Parish Council, a former School Board chairman, and currently serves as a member of the Building & Finance Commission.
With his background in small business and knowledge of the Township, Denny is proud to be able to contribute to the growth and strength of the entire Sycamore Township community.
Mr. Cliff Bishop - Vice-President
To contact Cliff Bishop: firstname.lastname@example.org
Mr. Bishop has been a Sycamore Township resident for over 40 years and has lived in the Dillonvale area for 26 years. After graduating from Indian Hill High School in 1973, he attended the University of Cincinnati where he studied Architecture, Real Estate Appraisal, and Business Management. Cliff also serves on the Community Cares Council and the Deer Park School District Community Relations Board. After serving on the Park and Recreations Board, Cliff took office as a Trustee in 1993. Cliff has also faithfully served the residents of Sycamore Township as an elected Trustee for 20 years.
Mr. Tom Weidman - President
To contact Tom Weidman: email@example.com
Tom Weidman was elected to the Sycamore Township Board of Trustees in the Fall of 2005, but he is not a new face to most residents of Sycamore Township. Tom has lived in Sycamore Township since 1985, with his wife Dianne, and sons, Sean, Mike and Nick. In 1994, Tom was appointed by the Trustees to the Township Planning and Zoning Commission. He was also appointed to the Township Land Use Plan Committee. In 1999, the residents of the Township voted to end county zoning and create a Township Zoning department. Tom was asked by the Trustees to move to the newly established Board of Zoning Appeals, and at their first meeting in January, 2000, he was elected by his fellow members to the Chairman position. Tom held the Chairman position until he began his elected position as Township Trustee in January, 2006.
Tom has led and won many fights on behalf of Township residents against proposed commercial developments that encroached into residential neighborhoods, but no victory was greater than the fight to prevent a Target Superstore from developing in the backyards of our Dillonvale residents.
During his initial campaign, Tom promised that his very first order of business as Trustee would be to pass enhanced notification rules for all sex offenders that move into our community. Tom worked closely with Hamilton County Prosecutor, Joe Deters, and former Hamilton County Sheriff, Simon Leis, to insure that his proposal met all legal tests. At his first meeting as a Trustee on January 5th, 2006, his fellow trustees agreed with Tom, making Sycamore Township sex offender notification rules the strictest of any community in Ohio .
Tom is a strong believer that by keeping our Kenwood Retail District new and cutting edge, we increase property values for all Sycamore Township residents. Tom believes that our Kenwood Retail District is the "Crown Jewel" of retail in all of southern Ohio and he is totally committed to the continued re-development and re-vitalization of the entire Kenwood shopping area.
Tom is a 1978 graduate from the University of Michigan, receiving a degree in Political Science and Economics. He is the President of Marketmaster International LLC, an international marketing and sales company in the Specialty Steel and Specialty Steel parts business, which he founded in 1986.
Although Tom keeps busy running his company and serving the residents of Sycamore Township as Trustee, in his free time he enjoys playing golf and tennis.
