STATION 93

Sycamore Township dedicated its NEW North Firehouse and Park on August 22, 2009.  CLICK HERE to view pictures of the events.

The Firehouse and community room which are housed in one large building will be powered using solar panels.  The building itself has become LEED certified. (Leadership in Energy and Enviornmental Design).  It is the only firestation east of the Rocky Mountains that have such a distinction.  The location of the solar panels is 98% efficient for sun exposure.  On sunny days that produce more energy than is used the energy goes back to the electric grid which turns back the meter, saving money for days when the solar energy is not as strong.  Geothermal heating, which picks up the tempature of the earth, will also be used to keep a more consistent tempature in the building.  The new station replaces the current north station on Solzman Road.  The new station will have four (4) bay areas for the trucks and more amenities and supplies that the old station was unable to accomodate.

Sycamore Township EMS & Fire crews operate on shift assignments. Career personnel work on a 24/48 schedule with part-time personnel working 12 hours shifts. The department operates under a three unit concept with Career Officers managing these three shifts. Station 93 operates with a minimum staffing of 5 during a 24-hour period. Service is provided to the community 365 days a year 24 hours a day with on station personnel. On station staffing insures the fastest response possible in the Northern area of the Township.
