WELCOME TO SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP
The shred on April 19 was such a success that the truck was filled in just 3 hours. Unfortunately, some residents were unable to dispose of their important documents. Due to this fact, The Trustees have decided to have a shredding truck at the Trash Bash on Saturday, May 17 from 10 am to 1 pm.
The State of Ohio has a program which can reduce property tax bills for residents who own their own homes and are 65 or older. It’s called the Homestead Exemption. This program also applies to residents who own their own homes and are permanently and totally disabled.
The Homestead Exemption reduces the tax burden by lowering the taxable value of the home, thereby lowering the tax bill. The amount of property tax savings varies based on the value of the home. Residents who qualify for this exemption are urged to contact the County Auditor’s office for information on how to apply.
Starting in 2014, the Homestead exemption requires an Adjusted Gross Income below $30,500 in order to qualify. This income threshold did not apply in years past. The income threshold was added last year by State Legislators. However, If you were eligible for a Homestead Exemption in 2013 and did not register, you must do so BEFORE June 1, 2014 in order to receive the full benefit. Otherwise, the income threshold will apply.
